A Zero-Downtime Cloud Migration for a Regulated Lender

FinEdge Capital's loan origination and servicing platforms were straining an on-premise data centre nearing end-of-life. 7x Technologies migrated the entire estate to AWS with a hardened, audit-ready security posture — without a minute of client-facing downtime.

The Challenge

FinEdge Capital, an NBFC serving over 80,000 borrowers, ran its loan origination system, servicing platform, and reporting stack in a single co-located data centre. Hardware was approaching end-of-support, disaster recovery relied on nightly tape backups with an untested restore process, and every capacity increase meant a procurement cycle measured in months. A four-hour outage during a monsoon power failure had already triggered an uncomfortable conversation with the board.

As a regulated lender, FinEdge could not simply lift-and-shift and hope for the best. RBI guidelines on IT outsourcing and data localisation, plus upcoming ISO 27001 recertification, meant the migration had to land with encryption, access controls, audit trails, and data-residency guarantees provably in place from day one.

The Solution

7x Technologies began with a full application and dependency audit, classifying workloads into rehost, replatform, and refactor tracks. The core loan systems were replatformed onto AWS in the Mumbai region: application tiers moved to ECS on Fargate behind an Application Load Balancer, the Oracle-based servicing database was migrated to SQL Server on RDS with Multi-AZ failover, and a warm-standby DR environment was established in the Hyderabad region with automated failover runbooks.

Security was engineered in rather than bolted on. All data is encrypted at rest with KMS-managed keys and in transit via TLS 1.3, network segmentation follows a zero trust model with private subnets and VPC endpoints, and access is governed by SSO with mandatory MFA and just-in-time privileged access. CloudTrail, GuardDuty, and a centralised SIEM give the compliance team a continuous audit trail mapped to RBI and ISO 27001 controls.

Cutover was executed over three weekends using a blue-green pattern with continuous database replication, so the legacy environment remained a live fallback until each workload was verified in production. Branch users and customer channels experienced no downtime. Post-migration, 7x built infrastructure-as-code baselines in Terraform and handed over a FinOps dashboard that surfaces spend by product line.

Client testimonial

Moving our core platforms to the cloud felt risky for a regulated finance business, but the 7x team handled it with zero client-facing downtime. Our infrastructure costs dropped by a third and we cleared our last two security audits without a single major finding.
